MADISON, WI—High flying sculptures, gravity defying concoctions, and awe-inspiring visual delights await attendees to the 2015 Hair Affair: The Art of Hair. The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art presents the fourth biennial of this popular fundraiser, with the fantastic theme of Cirque des Cheveux. At center stage of this event is the runway show, with models gliding down the museum’s own soaring, iconic stairway.

Hair Affair supports the museum’s free exhibitions and education programs, while showcasing the skill and creativity of premier salons and stylists from the Madison area. Inspired by the theme of Cirque des Cheveux (Circus of Hair), participating stylists will wow attendees at the museum on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 7 to 10:30 pm.

Invention and creativity are key in creating incredible coiffures, such as these examples from years past:

  • An alluring black hole design radiating five feet around the head of a stately model. Designer: Rejuvenation Spa.
  • A steam-punk goddess design, blending science-fiction and neo-Victorian elements. Designer: Adrian b.fix Salon.
  • Fifteen feet of braided golden hair interwoven with ribbons, flowers, pearls and fresh baby’s breath to suggest a modern-day Rapunzel. Designer: RZ & Company.
  • A windswept design incorporating leaves and twigs, evoking Red Riding Hood’s escape through the woods with the Big Bad Wolf in pursuit. Designer: Blues Hair Studio.

A slideshow of styles from the 2013 Hair Affair may be viewed on the museum’s website, mmoca.org.

Hair Affair 2015 will feature 14 models representing 13 participating stylists and salons: Anaala Salon and Spa; Aveda Institute Madison;Bang Salon; Bella; Brandee Danielle Huston, Stylist; Hybrid Salon; Julia Grace Salon; LUST Beautyworks; New Concepts Salon;Rejuvenation Spa; RZ & Company; Temptd Salon & Spa; Thorps Haircuts & Color.
