Two of America’s top ten camps, Lake of the Woods and Greenwoods in Decatur, Michigan returns for its second summer after serving over 20 LGBT families in year one.  CampOut, a three-day, two-night LGBT-focused family camp weekend takes place annually in August in Southwest Michigan. This weekend is open to all members of the LGBT community and their families.

CampOut provides a total summer camp experience where fun and adventure can be had, skills can be developed and life-long friendships can be forged.

• All attendees will be able to participate in over 30 land and water activities; from water skiing, paddle boarding and sailing to rock climbing, archery, tennis and crafts. Each activity is overseen and instructed by experts in their areas from all over the globe, including Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

• Spacious, modern cabins with electricity and indoor plumbing can be privately reserved or shared with friends or another family.

• Healthy and delicious meals are served in the modern mess hall, which offers a salad and pasta bar with most meals. Some food allergies/requests can be accommodated.

• Adult programming is offered from 9 p.m. – midnight each night with babysitting services available at an additional fee.

CampOut’s mission is to provide a nurturing and carefree space for LGBT families to experience the magic of summer camp together.

Founded in 1935, brother–sister camps, Lake of the Woods and Greenwoods Camps are located on 80 acres along the shore of beautiful Lake of the Woods and are less than a three-hour drive from Chicago and Detroit.
