Are We Delicious? presents Xmas ‘15, their third annual holiday variety show. Working together in a deliberate crisis situation, eight Madison performers collaborate to create eight short plays on the theme of “Xmas”, which encompasses Hanukkah, Christmas, New Years, Festivus, and every other permutation of this strange and powerful time of year. As always, Are We Delicious? builds a one-hour show in seven days using only their imagination, insane deadlines and the Ensemble Spirit™.

Are We Delicious? Xmas ‘15 runs two weekends December 3 thru 12 at Broom Street Theater.

The Xmas ‘15 Ensemble includes: Marcy Weiland, Dan Steger, Peggy Rosin, Matt Korda, Claire Kannapell, Linda Hedenblad, Jason Compton, and Coleman

Xmas ‘15 is designed and lead by Chelsey Wagemaker, Tony Trout, Autumn Shiley, Sara Beth Hahner and Casem AbuLughod

Are We Delicious? is an ensemble of Madison writer/performers who conceive, write, rehearse and perform an original one hour show of humor and heart in seven days. Everyone writes, everyone acts and no one can rest until the final curtain.

Broom Street Theater (BST) is a non-profit, member-controlled theater located in Wisconsin. BST volunteers and staff foster artistic freedom, growth, and expression through non-traditional experimental and/or original artistic forms.

ENSEMBLE BIOS:

Marcy Weiland has been acting in Madison her entire adult life, the first half with Broom Street Theater and the second half with Mercury Players Theatre, of which she is a founding member and served as Artistic Director for six years. At age 50 she checked off an item on her bucket list by performing in Lee Blessing’s one-person play Chesapeake. It is the story of a performance artist who dies, gets reincarnated as a dog, and ultimately saves the soul of an evil right-wing senator. Epic. This is Marcy’s third time hitting it hard with Are We Delicious? She participated in last year’s Elephant in the Room week at Broom Street. In her non-theater life, Marcy works for the Attainment Company, an educational publisher for people with disabilities. She also enjoys the life of disco co-diva in the local disco-funk band VO5. Breaking news: VO5 has come out with their first all-original instant-classic dance album, Dance Originality.
Daniel Steger is a Madison native who is incredibly excited to be a part of his first “Are We Delicious?” production. His background includes studying acting, creative writing and film at the University of Wisconsin -Madison. He also dabbles as an improv student with the Monkey Business Institute Performing Arts Group.
Peggy Rosin acts, improvises, engages in commercial and voice work, and directs. Thoroughly enjoying story telling in “That’s What She Said,” she grabbed the opportunity to participate in Delicious last year. It was amazing! This year, Peggy also performed a monologue for Forward Theater and acted in Big Expectations at BST.

Matthew Korda has appeared on many Madison stages, the Bartell, Broom Street, University, and the Overture Center. In a diverse range of productions, from A Christmas Carol to Spring Awakening to Jekyll and Hyde, but there is a special place in his heart for all things Shakespeare. A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Pericles and Twelfth Night most recently. Matthew is vice president Strollers Theatre, Ltd.

Claire Kannapell is very excited to be a part of Are We Delicious? Xmas ’15! This is her first theatrical performance in Madison. Claire also plays double bass in the Middleton Community Orchestra, and is a member of the jazz trio Barley Wine.

Linda Hedenblad began her stage career at age 8 as a ballerina. This vocation lasted 1 performance. Not to be discouraged by failure in the performing arts, Linda began improvisational comedy 32 years later.

Jason Compton makes his Are We Delicious? return in Xmas ’15. He was last seen in Left of Left Center’s Beta Blockers: The Refill, and waiting tables for Madison Opera in La Bohème. Since appearing in Are We Delicious? Privacy/Surveillance at Broom Street, he portrayed Carson in Gross Indecency for Madison Theater Guild, produced An Evening’s Affair for Madison Shakespeare Company, and took on Ariel’s wings in Spirits to Enforce for Left of Left Center.

Coleman is author of a memoir (SPOKE) a novel (Kidnapping Henry Kissinger) and a collection of plays (Faux Poe). His plays have been performed by Bricks, Forward Theatre and Broom Street. He teaches at the UW Writing by the Lake program and performs and directs for theatres in SW Wisconsin.
