Milwaukee parents Eric Lohman, lecturer and researcher at UWM and Stephani Lohman, an infection prevention nurse with degrees in chemistry, biology, and nursing, share their powerful story of navigating medical pressures, people’s reactions, and cultural gender ideas as they raise Rosie, their intersex child.

Part memoir and part guidebook, Raising Rosie tells the Lohmans’ uplifting and empowering experience of refusing to have their child’s gender reassigned at birth, how they speak to family, teachers, and caregivers, and how they plan to explain it to Rosie as she grows.
