Music Theatre of Madison presents: “Hephaestus: A World Premiere Workshop”
In this modern, thrilling, funny adaptation of Greek mythology, the story focuses on Hephaestus, the often overlooked underdog. He battles with his controlling mother, the indelible Hera, while pining for the love of the beautiful Aphrodite, who loves another.

Be part of the creation of a brand new musical! In Music Theatre of Madison’s first workshop performance, you’ll see a semi-staged reading of the show, plus renderings of sets and costumes, vision boards from the creative team, and early drafts and demos. A post-show talkback will allow the opportunity for audiences to provide their feedback for the piece, which will be developed over the next year and be presented in a fully-staged production in August of 2019.
Your ticket includes complimentary Mediterranean snacks (From Bunky’s Catering on 6/16 and Banzo on 6/17), as well as non-alcoholic beverages.

Hephaestus (Heh-fes-tus) tells the story of the oft-forgotten outcast of Greek myths. He is an artist, blacksmith, and hopeless romantic, desperate for the love of Aphrodite, yet facing epic hurdles to win her affections. Brutally cast out by his mother, Hera, he embarks on a quest for love, identity, and art, surrounded by humorous and modern versions of Greek mythological characters. A delight for those who love underdog stories, ancient tales of lust and jealousy, and soaring contemporary melodies.
