This summer, MGV is excited to inaugurate outdoor sand volleyball on FIVE Nightclub, just off Fish Hatchery Drive, at 5 Applegate Court. We’ll have two brand new courts alongside FIVE’s outdoor patio – a fantastic setting for a summer of great volleyball and fun with friends. MGV will have the courts reserved three days each week. Our Power 4s Division will play on Thursdays from approximately 6:30 to 10:00; our Intermediate and Rec divisions will play on Tuesday nights, again from about 6:30 to 10:00; and, on Sundays the courts will be available for open social play, with times to be determined. Regular season play starts the week of May 19, but the courts will be available for social play the week before.
To help you choose the best division, the league has prepared the following summaries:
• Rec Division – Our Rec League is for players new to the game or those looking for a fun experience with less emphasis on tough competition. Having fun is the biggest priority in this division, and socializing trumps winning. Teams will play with six players and can roster up to 8.
• Intermediate Division- Our Intermediate Division is for players with solid but not exceptional skills. Consistent control and accuracy is expected, as is a basic understanding of the different offenses and court movement. Intermediate teams will field teams of six with rosters not to exceed 8 players total.
• Power Division – Our Power Division is for our most advanced players. Players are expected to have exceptionally strong ball control and accuracy and to understand the workings of various offenses. Power Division players typically have extensive playing experience in both leagues and tournaments. This summer the Power Division will be playing four on the court with no more than five rostered players per team.
