March for Equality
June 21, 2014 @ 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm
This Event: Is LGBTQ hosted
Last summer on June 22nd, a March for Equality took place in downtown Wausau, WI. Our community came together with over 400 voices strong, and we walked peacefully in support of ending gender identity and sexual orientation discrimination. This 400 person march happened with just ONE WEEK of planning.
This year on Saturday, June 21, we are expanding our March to the Event for Equality. This event will begin with the same march from Stewart Avenue to the 400 Block at noon. We will spend from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. on the 400 Block in a picnic style celebration, highlighting businesses, clubs and organizations that support an end to gender identity and sexual orientation discrimination. At 4:00 P.M. we will officiate a Ceremony of Love open to all couples seeking to make a declaration of their commitment, at any level. After the event, we will have two social gatherings separately for the under 21 and over 21 year old participants to meet and find strength in their friendships.
We anticipate over 300 participants and are coming to you today to ask you for your support! There are three ways you can join our fight to end gender identity and sexual orientation discrimination.
