Queer tango lessons, offered by Tango Queer Madison, will be held on Mondays, 7-9pm, at Happy Bambino on Madison’s east side beginning January 16, 2017. The queer tango movement began in 2001 in Germany and Argentina, and has grown to an international movement offering lessons, social dancing, and festivals worldwide. Queer tango lessons are open role: anyone of any sexual orientation or gender identity can lead or follow. Lessons will be led by instructor Antonio Testolin, an accomplished lead and follow with 15 years of experience in salón, milonguero, and nuevo styles of Argentine tango. Each two-hour session will include one hour of beginner lessons, followed by one hour of social dance práctica. Free, plentiful, accessible parking is available at the Happy Bambino location. Queer Tango Madison offers these lessons with two goals: 1) to offer tango lessons in an environment safe for members of the LGBTQ community, 2) to build and support a community of LGBTQ Argentine tango dancers in Madison, Wisconsin. Please help us spread the word!
