What does it mean to read a room? What does it mean to have a room read you?

Read The Room at Monona Public Library is a collection of work produced by artists affiliated with the ArtWrite Collective, a justice-oriented organization of LGBTQ folks, folks of color, and womyn who are cultivating a resilient community through art. This exhibit launches ArtWrite’s Queer Summer Art Shows, an entire season of artistic celebration brought to you through the lens of LGBTQ experience. Through photography, mixed media drawing, prints, and interactive art, Read The Room represents work from Nicole Bresnick, Rolando Cruz, Yvette Pino, Jay Ludden, and Alaura Seidl. Each artist offers up their interpretation of reading a room through works that are as aesthetically diverse as their experiences. What surprises will you find at the library?

Join us at the Queer Summer Art Pary to follow at 7:30 at Jade Monkey.

Keep an eye out for more work from this crew by following The ArtWrite Collective on Facebook.
