This class is a reading and writing appreciation course.
Walking Home Ground: In the Footsteps of Muir, Leopold, and Derleth, is an account of regional writer Robert Root’s journey walking the same Wisconsin trails, countryside and natural areas as the legendary writers and conservationists listed in the title. For each class, we will to respond to the reading and come up with our own ideas as to what home ground means to us and how we understand and experience our drift-less natural areas. From there we will go ahead and try to write our own “In the footsteps” accounts. Part of our class will be inside and part will be outside, so participants need to dress accordingly.
