Sustain Dane & Living in Balance Launch The Megaphone: Connecting Stories for a Sustainable Future

by | Dec 12, 2017 | 0 comments

We believe in the power of our stories to inspire change. Our stories can be a tool to address the urgent needs of our communities.

Sustain Dane and Living in Balance are excited to launch an exciting new storytelling initiative, The Megaphone!

The Megaphone aims to be a powerful community platform that provides the space and tools to craft and share our stories; people from different backgrounds, races, age, gender and geographies that are working on and want to inspire others to build a more sustainable and inclusive community.

“Just as my personal story has inspired my vision and the work I do, our collective stories are shaping the sustainability revolution we want to be part of in the Madison region,” shares Gloria Castillo, Director of the Sustainable Neighborhoods Initiative at Sustain Dane.

To kick off this new initative, community members are invited to participate in two Megaphone Storytelling Workshops and a StorySlam. Participants will craft and share their stories with fellow neighbors, learning about the art of storytelling that empowers and transforms. Registration is FREE, and complimentary childcare, translation and transportation services are available upon request.

The Megaphone Storytelling Workshops will be facilitated by Jen Rubin, co-producer of The Moth and Takeyla Benton, co-producer of Listen to Your Mother.

The workshops will take place on Mondays, January 22 & February 5 at 5pm at Badger Rock Neighborhood Center.
