Madison, WI – September 1, 2015 –

A little bit of Hollywood will make its way to Madison this September as The Misadventures of Delilah James begins shooting its first episode. The series features a transgender lead character played by Madison-based comedian and actor Dina Nina Martinez. Martinez was recently featured in the Isthmus as one of the Mad Faves for Local Comedian as voted by the readers and was named one of AfterEllen.com’s “40 Hot Queer Women In Comedy”.

The Misadventures of Delilah James cast includes Ian Harvie from Transparent, Ann Walker from Sordid Lives, Marie DelPrete from King of Queens, Marcellas Reynolds from Big Brother, comedian Matthew Nouriel, Madison actor Cindy Boscarelli and transgender comic and creator of the series Dina Nina Martinez. TMDJ is a depiction of the Trans Experience from Dina’s perspective.

The series follows protagonist Delilah James through her booming career and her romantic woes in a poignant and provocative way. Universal themes of body acceptance and dating as a driven career woman permeate the series.

Martinez is the mastermind behind the series. “It’s my story. It’s just this chubby chick in the middle of the country working her butt off to make a living and trying to date men. Oh, and by the way, she’s trans! I wanted to create a series where being transgender was not the main focus, but just a part of the character’s story and one hell of a complication.”

Ian Harvie from Transparent, who is playing the protagonist’s long-term love interest, said, “I am thrilled to be part of such an exciting series. Mathias as a character/person … is down to earth, yet cultured. I can’t wait to see what’s next for this project.”

Martinez is the creator, writer and producer of the series. It is co-written/produced by Steve Williams.
