2016 Fall Food Cart Fest

This year, for the first time, the 3rd Annual Fall Food Cart Fest is moving to the East Side Club, 3735 Monona Avenue, Madison, WI, on the shores of Lake Monona overlooking the Madison skyline. Organized by the Let’s Eat Out! food cart coalition, the festival is a fundraiser for the Carts for Community program, with proceeds benefiting the group’s charitable work, including its neighborhood dinner program and food cart internship program. The event features local food carts offering tasting menus at $4 or less, craft beer and cocktails, and a line-up of local music and entertainers performing throughout the day. Mad City Bazaar, an urban popup flea market, will also have a unique selection of local vendors onsite. Beer, food and vendor sales begin at 11am and run until 7pm. Let’s Eat Out! (www.letseatoutwi.com) is a coalition of over 30 independently owned Madison-based food carts whose mission is to promote and advocate for the success of local mobile food entrepreneurs while bringing neighborhoods together and expanding access to local food. Carts for Community was developed by Let’s Eat Out! members to to engage Madison youth in local community and economic development while building community capacity through food. Over the last two summers, Let’s Eat Out and Carts for Community provided over 4,000 meal subsidies in local food desert neighborhoods. The 2015-16 internship program matched at-risk youth with food cart owners for an intensive 8-week, hands-on learning experience, allowing interns to work directly with small business owners.
