The Edgewood Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Blake Walter, continues its concert season with a performance sure to warm the heart.

Works to be performed include Mendelssohn’s Overture to The Hebrides, Franz Schubert’s Sixth Symphony, and Fratres for Violin Solo, String Orchestra and Percussion by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, featuring the Edgewood Chamber Orchestra’s Concertmaster, David Huntsman.

Mr. Huntsman hails from Madison, where he began his musical career at age four. He has toured Europe on several occasions, twice through orchestral fellowships and again with the Bravidade String Quartet. His quartet was honored the United States representative at the Fjord Cadenza International Music Festival in Skodje, Norway. The group’s ranking among the top six competitors at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition awarded them a spotlight on the Arts and Entertainment Network’s series ‘The Performer.’

Mr. Huntsman holds a Master of Music degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, and his wife Malia is principle oboe with the Edgewood Chamber Orchestra.

Founded in 1993 via a generous endowment established by benefactors William O. Hart and Vernon Sell, the Edgewood Chamber Orchestra fulfills a unique role in the Madison community, providing high-quality performances and unique educational opportunities. The ensemble is the permanent, in-house chamber orchestra at Edgewood College.

$5 general admission, free with Edgewood College ID.
