Join the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce for their second Madison area “Food for Thought” featuring Lt. Brian Chaney Austin with Madison Police Department. The objective is to provide Chamber members an opportunity to have lunch and a discussion in a small group with a key community or business leader and hear their story. Tickets are $10. Brian Chaney Austin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Sciences and Spanish from Illinois State University. He completed graduate work from Pennsylvania State University in Homeland Security. Prior to his work in law enforcement, Brian was employed as a youth counselor and juvenile probation officer for the 19th Judicial Circuit Court in Waukegan, IL. Brian joined the Madison Police Department in 2002 and has served in a variety of assignments as a police officer to include the Community Policing Team and later as the supervisor for MPD’s Gang Unit. During his tenure, he also held positions as an MPD recruit mentor, emergency driving instructor, field training officer and was a long time member of MPD’s internal peer support group. Brian is also a founding member of “MPD Pride” which is a workgroup within the police department that aims to cultivate trust between the members of the LGBT community and law enforcement.

Brian currently holds the rank of Lieutenant to which he shares command responsibility for the supervision of the officers and detectives assigned to the Central Police District.
