Queer Mental Wellness – Peer Support Group
September 20 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
This is a Madison-based, free, open, peer support group for queer, trans, and/or questioning individuals to come together to give and receive support around mental wellness, mental health, and mental illness. All facilitators are volunteers, and in the spirit of peer support, each one identifies as LGBTQIA2S+ and as having personal experience dealing with mental wellness, health, or illness. The group is also community-based, meaning that not only is everyone involved part of the queer community, but also that the group was designed from feedback from the community and will continually be shaped by it. For the duration of the pandemic, we are holding meetings via Zoom and extending beyond Madison to invite anyone in our community across Wisconsin to attend our meetings. Please RSVP through email or Facebook so we can make sure group size is conducive to everyone having enough time to share.
Meetings occur every other Sunday from 3pm-4:30pm and follow the same
– Briefly reviewing group values, confidentiality, and outlining the meeting
– Optional meditation, approximately 5 minutes
– Each person checks in
– Additional process time or discussion
– Sharing of and asking for resources
– Evaluating how the group went
