The Nance, by Douglas Carter Beane. A Dramatic Comedy with Music.
In 1930s New York, a secretly gay comedian makes his living playing a sterotypical sissy “nance” in vaudville. With a new boyfriend, Chauncey is now finding his onstage personality is crossing into his private real life. And when the mayor of New York starts a crusade against “perverts and deviants”, Chauncey must make a life changing decison as his two worlds crash together.
