Transgender Day of Remembrance with Forge
November 20, 2019 @ 6:00 pm
Transgender Day of Remembrance is a time when communities come together to honor and remember those who have died due to anti-trans bias during the past year. We have been living in sobering times and the violence against transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming people and loved ones has not slowed. Hate-motivated violence has been on the rise the many years and trans communities have been deeply impacted by anti-trans legislation, political attitudes and behaviors, and culture shifts that encourage bias-based harmful and often deadly actions. Although there is no easy solution to stopping the hate and bias, we know that solidarity, community, and coming together has an enormous impact on creating a world that is more respectful, supportive, and full of love for one another.
Please join FORGE and other community partners at Milwaukee LGBT Community Center (1110 N. Market St., Milwaukee) on Wednesday, November 20, at 6:00 PM for an evening that will include community speakers, a sharing of names of those who died in the past year, music, time for reflection, and a resilience-focused closure. Food and community/connection will follow the formal program.
