Listen to Your Mother: Madison now seeking stories for 2016 audition season

by | Jan 26, 2016 | 0 comments

Mothers and mother figures alike have a way of saying things that we seem to want to ignore, but somehow remember just when we need them. What stories stick with you?

Listen to Your Mother: Madison is now seeking stories for our 2016 audition season! It could be a letter, a never ending cliché, the many times she snooped through your things, the loving things she did for you that you deeply appreciate years later when you are a mother yourself. Perhaps you have your own story to tell about overcoming tragedy, being a super mom (aren’t we all super mom’s anyway?) or trying to get the world to see your lil’ guy’s life matters, too. Maybe one particular memory will bring our house down with laughter, or bring comfort and knowing nods to those who need them most.

You don’t have to be a mother to audition, you don’t have to be a writer or a performer. Yes, men are welcome, too!

Whatever your story is-in all its different hues and tones-we would love for you to share it with us!

In anticipation of our 7th and biggest show ever, we have THREE different locations available for auditions.

Sunday February 21st on the East Side from 1-4 pm

Tuesday February 23rd in Fitchburg from 4-6 pm

Thursday February 25th on the West Side from 6:30-8:30 pm

Please note:

AUDITION PIECES SHOULD NOT EXCEED 5 MINUTES. Please time yourself reading aloud before auditioning to make sure your piece does not exceed 5 minutes. Shorter is fine. Shorter is great!
Please read right from your paper and don’t memorize your piece. We read directly from the page on show day.
Please bring a copy of your piece that will not be returned.
Plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before your appointment to fill out an audition form.
Previously published work accepted as long as author retains full rights or has express permission to read the work for the event.
Please note, commitment includes two rehearsals, TBD in March/April, and a pre-performance run-through at noon at the Barrymore on show day.
Auditions are by appointment only through February 18th. Here’s how to get yours:

Email keyla20002000@yahoo.com. Be sure to write AUDITION in the subject line.
