Take Back the Night Madison Run/Walk
April 19, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
This Event: May be of interest to the LGBTQ community
Everyone’s invited to light up the night with the Take Back the Night Madison Run/Walk!
Madison will light up to support survivors on April 19th at the Take Back The Night Madison’s Run/Walk for 2017! Representative Chris Taylor and Eileen Zeiger, the Director of Education and Outreach Programming at the Rape Crisis Center, will address the supporters before the 5K run and 2 mile walk begins. Co-chair Karli Fink will speak about her assault on campus and the ongoing trial. Registration starts at Madison City Hall at 8pm. The run/walk begins at City Hall, goes through the city and along Lake Monona, and ends at Law Park (near City Hall).
The first 200 people to register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/take-back-the-nightmadison-runwalk-2017-april-19-2017-at-8pm-registration-32905126118?aff=UW_Madison will be entered into a raffle. If you can’t attend, but want to show your support for Take Back The Night (TBTN), please complete a FREE SUPPORT REGISTRATION—this enters you in the raffle, too!
The night of the event, we encourage all to wear bright colors to light up the night or buy a glow-in-the-dark TBTN shirt on site.
1 in 4 women on the UW-Madison Campus have reported being sexually assaulted. “We started this event to bring attention to this fact, and to let survivors know that we support them,” said event organizer Bri Bulski, “April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), so there is no better time to hold a Take Back the Night run/walk than now!” Funds raised by the event will support “It Starts Here” – an educational initiative to reach students between 13 and 18 helping educate them about healthy relationships.
