April 21 @ 8:00 am - April 22 @ 12:00 pm
* Is LGBTQ hosted
* Has LGBTQ content
* May be of interest to the LGBTQ community
The mission of WISQUEER is to explore and empower LGBTQA+ undergraduate students in Wisconsin. Specifically, the focus of the conference will be on marginalized identities within the LGBTQA+ spectrum (disabled folks, folks of color, undocumented folks, and folks from rural areas). As a student-run conference, we believe that undergraduate students can make a difference in our state. It is vital for us to elevate these voices and make sure accessing queerness is actually accessible to everyone!
1st Annual Wisconsin LGBTQ Undergraduate Conference
WisQueer is a student-led conference for Wisconsin undergraduates centered on LGBTQ issues. This 1.5 day conference will bring together undergraduate students from around the state for workshops, panels, and social events to learn about matters of important to LGBTQ students in the state, the nation, and the world. This is the first conference of its kind held in Wisconsin and the hope is that it will become an annual event hosted by different schools around the state. This year’s theme, chosen by the student organizers, is “Accessing Queerness,” and one of the top goals of the organizers is to make this conference as financially and physically accessible as possible.
